Citroen Performance fitting a supercharger on Saxo 1.6i VTR

Citroen Performance options:

Rating: +1

Positive Negative

You can supercharger any car... but the choice of supercharger and final setup would differ depending on your application.
Apparently your 1.6 engine is made by Peugeot and so it has a rather large aftermarket following considering.

The stock engine information:
1.6 liter DOHC , 16Valve engine.

The engine is a peculiar stroker setup with a small bore of 72mm and a longer stroke of 82mm.
With long stroke engines we typically expect that the engine will produce more torque at lower rpm ranges although this specific example doesn't quite conform to that brining in peak torque at a fairly high 5200 rpms range and peak horsepower of 117hp @ 6600 rpm.

With an engine compression ratio of 10.8:1 and a good stock use of the rpm range (up to 6600), means that this engine will be VERY responsive to normally aspirated modifcations (the basic intake / header / exhaust / tune) combination on a car with a good 6600 rpm peak power and a almost 11:1 compression ratio will show better power gains than something with say a 5200 rpm redline and a 9:1 compression ratio. On this kind of setup a nice small nitrous setup could also be a great complimentary power adder as nitrous plays rather well with this kind of compression ratio.

In this case I would put that as one option (basic bolt ons) and they do exist for this car and will show a good return on investment in power results.

Now back to supercharger performance... with that high a compression ratio I would keep the boost pressure low to the tune of 5-7psi unless you lower the compression ratio. An intercooler (or water injection) is a definite must on this kind of setup.

Because of your high compression ratio (and thus limited peak boost pressure) and also because of the rather narrow power band (between 5200 rpms and 6600 rpms) I think the best supercharger match for this engine is a twin rotor or twin screw positive displacement supercharger, such as an eaton M45 or MP45. This setup will give you a peak power boost at 6600 rpms, but also give you more torque below 5200 rpms making the car much more drivable and so you won't need to rev it up to 5200 every time you want to get a little grunt out of it.

At 7psi of boost you'd expect to see around 175hp from the supercharger setup and possibly even more with a header and exhaust system... with a lower compression ratio (such as using a thicker head gasket or a cylinder head spacer plate like the one provided by DP engineering) then there would be no reason not to run a healthy 15 or so psi of boost brining in your peak power to around 230hp with the appropriate supporting modifications.
