Blox Racing Velocity Stack

The blox racing velocity stack is designed to minimize the transition pressure between the intake system and the ambient air. No corners were cut here, the stack was designed with the air filter in mind and so it makes the same power with and without the K&N air filter attached. What’s most impressive is that this product consistently shows anywhere from 3 to 10whp increases OVER an existing high performance air filter pod combination, and with a large 3″ diameter is ideal for high power applications.

NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

Iridium is a great precious metal in that it displays two characteristics:

  1. It has higher hardness than platinum and so it does NOT wear out with abuse.
  2. It has almost as low a resistivity and as high a conductivity as copper.

The combination creates a spark plug that performs like a copper racing plug and outlasts a platinum street plug giving you virtually the last plug you’ll ever need, especially when you throw a reliable, race supportive, and well known brand name such as NGK into the mix. Independent tests have also shown more consistent cylinder pressure with Iridium fine tip plugs and I have used these on everything from Seadoo JetSkis to Mercedes Crusiers.

Striker Cold Shot Water/Methanol Injection System

In the past, when you bought a water/methanol injection system you would have to put up with a lot of hidden costs spent on add ons:

  • Add ons to control activation and control
  • Add ons to monitor fluid volume or fluid pressure to tell you when your system is running low …etc

The cool thing about the striker cold shot is that it comes as a complete package complete with a multi function analog / digital display that has a low water level indicator as well as a build in boost gauge. The controller itself is designed to interface and activate off of any 0 to 5Volt singal, typically coming from a pressure sensor and activating the boost gauge. However, you could wire in your 0 to 5volt Mass Airflow sensor to get a variable spray that increases with flow and rpm (rather than based on boost) , or you can interface to a 5 volt RPM or even a 5 volt translated output from your wide-band controller and have a variable spray pattern based on A/F ratios. The control and safety options are limitless with this product as it truly is a progressive development.

Striker Cold Shot Water Injection System

HKS Fuel Cut Defender

Sometimes when you increase the boost pressure on your car, you run into a little situation called Fuel Cut or Boost Cut. Some factory ECU’s use the built in Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor or a comparison between your MAS airflow reading and your current RPM to determine if the car has been modified. If the ECU senses too high a boost level, or that you’ve exceeded the maximum expected MAS reading it will cut fuel, killing acceleration and preventing you fro making more power.

The HKS FCD is a simple yet very highly effective device that clamps the MAP or MAS voltage to prevent the ECU from seeing the full boost reading and activating fuel cut. Of course you may be worried about reporting a lower load reading to your ECU, because that will result in a leaner Air Fuel ratio and Advanced timing, but worry not. Using the HKS FCD in combination with a variable rate water/methanol injection system (such as the striker cold shot mentioned above) is a great combination.

The HKS FCD will allow you to reach peak boost, and the striker coldshot will fill in any missing fuel (in the methanol) and take care of the added timing advance (through the water spray by cooling the air / fuel / water / methanol charge combination) giving you the ultimate in KISS fuel upgrades.

JIC Magic DE-1 Muffler

I love this muffler. Straight through, high flow 500+ hp but at the same time under 100dB sound and a great refined rolling rumble sound. Unlike the typical bazooka boom of an Apexi N1 or a shotgun machine gun sound of an HKS Carbon Titanium.

The muffler gives a nice deep burble that is characteristic of the JIC Magic, and it comes in Stainless and Titanium models for even more weight savings. You don’t need to have annoying sound to have a great flowing and powerful exhaust and this muffler is a testament to that.

AEM UEGO

A while ago, to have a wideband in your car , you needed a wideband controller, a laptop, an ugly square display window and a bulky controller.

The AEM UEGO is a great all in one package. It’s a wide-band heater controller circuit, coupled with an analog and digital readout, fitted in a standard gauge body, and last but not least comes with a selectable output voltage for wide-band to narrow-band translation (so that you can use only 1 oxygen sensor in the factory location feeding both your gauge and the factory ECU), or for use as a data logger input.

VDO Boost Gauge

VDO gauges are manufactured by Siemens which is the world’s #1 company in electronics. Siemens manufactures fuel injectors, sensors, ECU’s, and through VDO Gauges. VDO Gauges are also factory equipment on one of my favorite cars of all time, the Lamborghini Diablo!

This gauge here is a simple and reliable mechanical vacuum and boost gauge and is the same Gauge that I had installed on my 3000GT VR4 and when I bought my 2005 C200 Kompressor, I went ahead and bought another one for this car. Simple, accurate, easy to read, and reliable.

Pyrometer Gauge

An important addition to any highly modified car is a Pyrometer or EGT (exhaust gas temperature gauge). Just like a wide-band air fuel ratio gauge assures us that we have enough fuel in the mixture; an EGT gauge measures and targets our octane satisfaction…

  • Too high a compression ratio
  • Too high a boost level
  • Too low an octane level (bad tank of gas)
  • Too much ignition timing advance
  • Too hot your engine coolant

If any of these problems exist, it will show up on your EGT gauge to tell you that your engine is overheating (FROM THE INSIDE) and that you need to back things off or get your car checked and re-tuned. If there ever was a safety net on a boost car, this is it, and I highly recommend it if you plan on doing any tuning on your high performance car.

HEET / ISO-HEET

This is truly a racer’s secret. Have you ever been stuck in a situation where your beloved street/strip car failed emissions? (I have). And where the part that you needed to get it back to a healthy state was ordered and on back ordered making you wait. In the meantime your tags are expired and you get daily tickets of $60 to $100 to renew your tags ? That was such a horrible summer for me when I first bought my 3000GT VR4 and was waiting on a replacement downpipe and a replacement intercooler core to fix the car’s emissions.

Out of desperation I discovered HEET/ISO-HEET… this little bottle consists of over 99% alcohol. Alcohols (ethanol, methanol, iso-propyl alcohol) vary in octane between 108 and 112 octane. They are also oxygenated which means the fuel itself releases more oxygen into the combustion chamber which can consume excessive fuel and eliminate an overly rich tune. (This is somewhat similar to nitro-methane or nitrous oxide injection). The use of this oxygenated high octane fuel can fix emissions failures, clean carbon crusted combustion chambers (with a slightly leaner and hotter combustion that will clean off the pistons and valves), unclog fuel injectors through the alcoholic solvent, raise your octane level for that added sense of security on a really hot day or when getting gas from a sketchy gas station, clean up fouling injectors, and increase horsepower and torque delivery by a measurable amount.

Fuel injector cleaner is basically a watered down version of this product. Use the real stuff when you want to see real results.
